Your mission
We are looking to appoint an experienced Lab / Creative Arts Technician to join our school. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking professional, who is able to contribute to the extra-curricular activities program and other aspects of enrichment within the school. 

As a Whole School Lab / Creative Arts Technician you will be involved in Science, Art, Drama and Music and support our Primary and Secondary School. You will play a crucial role in supporting classes, working closely with the teachers, heads of department and heads of section. You will assist in preparing material and providing hands-on support to students during their practical and scientific explorations.
Main Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities: 
  • To always act in the best interests of pupils.
  • To support the school's ethos and goals.
  • To act in accordance with school policy and the school's Code of Conduct.
Professional Responsibilities: 
  • To prepare rooms and resources for science lessons and clubs.
  • To manage the finalization of pupil work as needed and to control/maintain long-term experiments.
  • To design and construct basic equipment (eg storage and lab equipment) and prepare chemicals.
  • To purchase resources (eg for dissection) directly in person as required.
  • To manage stocks of resources, including preparing orders as necessary.
  • To assist teachers with practical lessons.
  • To uphold the highest health and safety standards, including cleaning and tidying equipment and furniture as required.
  • In agreement with the Head of Science, to support the maintenance of databases of possible experiments, chemicals, equipment and safety data sheets.
  • To advise teachers on their experimental work.
  • To ensure that all equipment is kept in good working order, liaising with other departments (eg IT) as necessary.
Other duties:
  • To drive school vehicles (including a minibus) as required for the fulfillment of other duties.
  • To handle data in a way that is compliant with the Data Protection Policy.
  • To undertake other activities of a similar level and scope, as directed by the school's management team and science teachers.
  • To contribute to the extra-curricular activities program and other aspects of enrichment within the school, including after school clubs, school trips and events. These may be held after school, at the weekend or on holiday dates.
